Kenzie rides the bus this year since I figured she had Mikayla there to watch out for and protect her. Unfortunately Mikayla is not the protector I had hoped for. 3 days into school Mikayla comes home without Kenzie. I thought they were playing a joke on me and Kenzie was hiding somewhere. But nope she did not get on the bus. So we called the school to see if she was still there, they called the bus tranport who radioed all the drivers. NO kids still left on the buses anywhere. It was now 45mins after school had been out and 15mins since Mikayla had come home that I called the police. They then had police men searching the bus routes for 2 little 5yr old girls (she was with a friend who rides the same bus, but gets off at a different stop). It took another hour of worrying that my child was down in the ghetto standing on a street corner lost before they finally found them. They had gotten on the wrong bus and dropped off at an after school church daycare. Now we wonder how did this daycare not know that they had 2 extra kids? Kenzie said she told them she wasn't suppose to be there, but that was of course after playing on the playground and eating oreos. She wanted to go back the next day! So lots of things seems to have gone wrong here...now they will have tags on the backpacks and teachers checking off to make sure the kids get on the right bus.
Now the other part to this story...when Mikayla came home I asked if she told the bus driver her sister wasn't on the bus (kenzie has to sit in the front seat cuz she is 5 so Mikayla would of had to pass her seat). Mikayla said yes but that the busdriver said she couldn't wait and had to go. This is what I was telling the cops (so they knew she wasnt in our neighborhood), bus transport and the school. Mikayla LIED! She never told the busdriver anything. Mikayla knew I would be mad if she didn't watch out for her sister....well yeah! But Byron and I were much madder that she lied to us and that we had to make her call and apolozie to the bus transport (so the bus driver didn't lose their job over it) and the school principle.
We are so grateful kenzie was in a safe spot.

Wow! That's nuts. I'm glad you found her. That's so funny that she joined the other daycare kids and just dug in and had fun. At least she had supervision.
